The 04 Week Step by Step Work of GTR

Please refer to the Resources section for material to help find particular areas to grow, peer critique protocol, PDSA cycle Template, and the "Genius in the Room" PDSA cycle description.

 - GTR is a Professional Development geared towards pushing individualized areas of growth with a partner but can be used in a larger setting or alone.

Week 01 of GTR

The first week of "Genius in the Room" starts with teachers/educators being paired with another coworker. Preferably someone with the same responsibility (teacher/teacher, principal/principal). This requires some vulnerability as the coworkers will be discussing a small change idea in an area of growth. Once each individual change idea is discussed, each educator will capture this idea down in their PDSA cycle template under "Change to be made." After completing your "Change to be made," add your prediction of your change idea.

Week 02 of GTR

The second week (paired with the same partner) will begin with a brief synopsis, where you fill in your "What happened?" section on your PDSA cycle template,  of how your implementation of the change idea went. After discussing and recording your  implementation, type in what you have learned from the implementing your change idea in the "What we learned" section. Once this is completed, your partner will give their advise on what you should put in your "What are we going to do next" section. The last part for week 2 would be to put your next change idea, an iteration to your first change idea, down (this should be something that comes from the "Act" part of your PDSA cycle previously discussed).

Week 3 of GTR

The third week walks through the same process as the second week to push further on your original change idea. (Refer back to week 2 for instructions and steps of the process)

Week 4 of GTR

The fourth week is yet another cycle to iterate your change idea to make it more impactful for your educational community (Follow week 2 instructions). One big difference in the fourth and final week of your PDSA cycle is "Bright Spotting." Bright spotting will be a connector that builds community between a larger group. Educators will shine a light on one part of the iteration process that was a positive and made an impact to a larger audience than their partner. This can be helpful for educators to pull ideas and inspiration for future PDSA cycles.
